Mel Cruz and Her Magic

(A Bridal Hair and Make Up (HMU) Review)

I believe that the first and most important thing at a wedding is the bride’s look. After all, everyone would be looking at her. If she’s not confident about the way she looks, it would affect her mood and the entire party. As I have posted on my Facebook page, “the best and most important thing on a wedding day is to make the bride look and feel beautiful. Everything else will just follow.”

I guess I was able to let the mishaps of my other suppliers slide because I was feeling great about myself. Happy and confident with my look and all. And I have my HMU artist MEL CRUZ to thank for this. She and her hair specialist did a great job on me on my big day. I just told them the look I was going for and they delivered.

I was hoping for a Greek Goddess look to match my Venus-cut Grecian style wedding gown. Here’s my final look along with the before and after photo. You be the judge.

My Fairy God Make Up Artist - MEL CRUZ - working her magic brush on me

I must say I was wholly satisfied with my look on that day.  Mel used airbrush foundation that lasted the whole day long. Did not smudge even when I cried. Yes, yes… I did cry a bit. What can I say? Weddings are like funerals, you get carried away with the atmosphere and the music. Hehe…

I originally wanted to do my own make up on my big day and boy, was I glad that I didn’t dare. Haha! Looking back, I could just imagine the stress that I would have unnecessarily put myself through if I did my own face.

I readily chose Mel Cruz to do my bridal make up since I have already tried and tested her skills with colors and brushes. She was my sister’s HMUA at her wedding and she has done my face as well, as the maid of honor at the time. So, I had no apprehensions whatsoever in getting her services.

Mel is skilled in covering up eyebags, blemishes, birthmarks, and other skin discolorations. So I didn’t worry when days before the wedding a pimple and small white heads decided to give my face a visit. And she’s great with brightening the eyes, too. That’s very important for me because I believe the eyes are the center of attraction of the face. Beautiful eyes light up the whole face and that’s what Mel does best.

She also did my sister’s and mother’s make up. Here are some photos.

Overall, I strongly believe that we successfully achieved the look I hoped for. The guests complimented my make up and told me that I looked like a goddess (ahem!).

I guess Mel’s strongest suit is making the bride look her most beautiful self. I think they call it a “no makeup makeup look”.  You still look like you, but better…actually, the best You!
